We’ve hurtled past 1.5 degrees of warming, already tipping the planet into the point of no return. Waste is a huge component of this as 12.5 million tonnes of waste was incinerated in the UK last year, sky-rocketing carbon emissions.
The crisis that faces us ahead is one that requires resilience, community, imagination and above all urgent and practical new systems to tackle the huge scale of what we face.
ReCollective build new systems to facilitate the behaviour change around material use and disposal.
These systems include auditing, processing and redistributing materials through our material inventory and community database.
Our systems work is focussed around a network of warehouses where we process material for redistribution. Our first warehouse node is Minerva Works in Park Royal.
We also advocate for 'anticipatory design', designing alongside a reclaimed material palette rather than designing first, then seeking virgin materials to fit afterwards.
